Director RGV the Emotions Locker Vs Sergeant William James the Hurt Locker

Sir.RGV tweet “Just saw zero dark thirty nd I want to lick nd suck kathyryn begelows toe nails” made me to think about Kathryn Bigelow. I don't know about her still this tweet from Sir.RGV but I heard about the film “The Hurt Locker” as the one which won 6 Oscars and its director is lady who happens to be the first women to win the Oscar under Best Director Category. At that time, I only know that she is James Cameron wife. After seeing my gurus tweet on her, made me to think about her and in that process I watched the film “The Hurt Locker” an American war film about a three-man Explosive Ordnance Disposal (bomb disposal) team during the Iraq War. The film was directed by Kathryn Bigelow and the screenplay was written by Mark Boal.

I would like to thank Mark Boal first for designing a character called Sergeant William James. After sir.RGV has praised Kathryn Bigelow in a tweet “I really think James Cameron should take a crash course in direction from his wife Kathryn begelow” for her direction talent I believe there is no point in my praising.  However, I would like to thank her very sincerely for making me feel that I am not watching a Sergeant William James but Director Ram Gopal Varma in that film.

For the first time in my film watching career I am able to feel the attitude of a character that I know and to my luck it happens to resemble with my guru RGV’s attitude. Aside of many reasons to love this film, the only main reason that made this film to screw me is that I am able to see RGV’s attitude in Sergeant William James character. I would like to highlight some points which are still running in my mind even after 2 weeks of watching this film.

In the first scene where William James enjoying the Heavy metal music, I felt like irrespective of the place it is important to do what we like. I recalled sir.RGV being busy with his phone messages even if he is answering to an interviewer questions, or while sharing a stage with very big people.

In the next scene when he removed the cupboard which covered his window, I felt like it is important to do what is correct and useful for us instead of blindly following what it is there. I recalled sir.RGV breaking the existing rules of movie making and coming with new techniques starting from his first film Shiva to latest films Dongalamuta, Department and even in The Attacks of 26/11 film where he showed the attacks of 26/11 from the point of view of Joint commissioner of police.

In the scene while he is going for the first time with this team for bomb disposal, when he used the gas bombs which created confusion to his team member Sergeant J.T. Sanborn who has to cover him, I just recalled Sir.RGV way of analyzing the issue. I don't know the correct logic behind William using gas bomb at that time but this made me recall Sir.RGV way of thinking. Sir.RGV has always tried to show us the stories or characters which are beyond or not visible to our normal thinking, for example gangster’s personal life in Satya movie. I felt here Sergeant William has tried to show the different way of dealing the situation by using gas bombs which may distract that bomb remote operator as well.

In scene while Williams is disposing a bomb from the car he used to get repeated message from Sergeant J.T. Sanborn. Though he felt that Sanborn repeated messages are disturbing him he used to answer him coolly. But, when he noticed that it is distracting his work, he simply thrown the headset ignoring his messages and got back to his work. Its outstanding scene, I just recalled the way Sir.RGV responds to the questions which irritates him and how he ignores the people who try to distract his work.

I very much liked the episode where Sergeant William James interacts with Beckham a young Iraqi, where he likes him initially, he feel sorry assuming he is killed and tried to take revenge for his death, later he comes to know he is alive and tries to keep distance with him. In all this process I just recalled sir.RGV hidden character. As per my understanding of Sir.RGV I always believe that though he looks very hard outside, he is very cool and sensitive person. I believe, in order to not get distracted with these emotions, he tries to cover his sensitive nature with his fictional hard nature.

The forever memorable scene is when Sergeant William James talks to his infant. When he says about the changes in the human interests and asks him to enjoy a lot now itself where he is feeling value of everything that has surrounded him, I just recalled Sir.RGV statement that “By birth I am aged and I am trying to grow towards childhood”. As Sir.RGV said, when we have that excitement in knowing the things and enjoying the value of the things just like in our childhood then only I believe we can live the every moment of the life.

On seeing the scene where Sergeant William James tells his infant that currently in his stage of life there is only one thing that he knows he loves and then immediately he is shown as he starts another tour of duty serving with another EOD unit, I was in shock because I just recalled one of the statements from Sir.RGV that “apart from films I don't do anything else. I don't have any other life.” 
I am not sure whether my love on Sir.RGV made me to see the attitude of Director RGV in Sergeant William James or it is the greatness of director kathyryn begelows who made the film in such a way only the life in the characters is visible but not the actors. Whatever, I am very happy to see my Sir.RGV attitude in one of the highly worldwide recognized films.

Pre-Release Interpretation of Gundello Godari

Prerequisite information to write on GG: Info to better understand the scenes of GG
Story: The way I can present GG before I watch it in theaters


Purpose:

As a person who loves the acting skills of Manchu Lakshmi, and her passion for cinema in making different movies, I used to follow Gundello Godari updates. Actually I was thrilled on seeing the GG trailers which made me follow GG closely. As a person who learns from RGV, I tried to analyze this GG and have decided to complete writing the “Pre-Release Interpretation of Gundello Godari” by today as tomorrow movie will be released.

Prerequisite information to write on GG:

When a calamity affects the huge crowd, its impact on that crowd cannot be generalized. The effect of that calamity varies on person to person and it is purely dependent on, at what stage that person is present just before that calamity strikes him and how she/he faces that calamity. The severity in that disaster also decides the impact it leaves on that crowd:

*      When the natural calamity like floods affects the crowd with a huge force and leaves the place immediately then impact will be one way from which people can recover soon

*      While leaving if floods left out that place with full of mud then the impact will be different and this might take many days for the people to recover from that mud affect,

*      Just think the impact if that floods are of too high leaving that place with full of water to the height of the buildings making people go to the top floors like gram panchayat school, temple, village head building in that village.

*      Worsening the situation if this type of floods strike the same place continuously for a week raising the water level in that place and not allowing the people to get down from that roof, just imagine the worst state the people of that area might have stayed, wandering for people who can help them with food & take them away from that place.

*      As a group these people have at least someone to share their fear, sorrow and that too by the time floods strike them they are in safe side standing on the roof tops, but just think

*      What will be the situation of a person if he/she is left out alone in that floods and is fighting for a place to escape from that floods,

*      What if that person gets a company of a person and if they both have rivalry from long back?

*      What if a person got the company of a person whom she/he loves a lot but not expressed yet and what if the other person hates or loves her/him and which she/he doesn’t know?

*      What if two people who do not know each other but just got married to each other happen to face the floods together? They do not have a story to hate each other, they do not have information to understand each other but they have a problem behind in form of floods making them run without any second thought and a relation called marriage making them run together.

 

Every disaster leaves different impact on different people,

*      Some may lost properties like bike, car, and house hold items and even complete house itself,

*      Some may lost the memories like big tree in front of their house or some memorable items

*      Some may lost their loved ones like their friends, family members, teachers or any person and even any pet they loved most.

*      Some may lose their health mentally or physically.

*      In contrary some disasters may get together the people, who have been fighting from long period. Sometimes it also gives the scope to understand a person better than earlier.

 

When a disaster throw the just married couple (without any interest and without knowing each other) to a new place and make them travel together for few days giving a scope to know about each other… is the place & time where our GG story starts.

 

If any love story haunts us for long period then that story might have sacrifice or it might have betrayal. The characters we remember by discussing more about them are the ones that have done sacrifice for their love and the one that have betrayed their love. To be frank it would be more interesting to observe & study the people for whom his/her love have done sacrifice and the people who got betrayed try to adjust their life by forgetting/ignoring their past. However, I cannot generalize the points on the attitude of these type of people as one getting cheated or one doing sacrifice is individual perspective and it is dependent on the situations he/she come across and the belief & understanding that they have on one each other.

I assume that if a person does the sacrifice he/she might be too good or he/she is incapable of achieving their love. What makes them to reach that state of incapability or state giving up with a word sacrifice?

I assume lovers hypnotize one each other when they were in love. One lover hypnotizes the other in such a way that in front of the other lover apart from this lover who is hypnotizing rest all might lose its value. Interestingly marriage is the only weapon that can bring these lovers out of their own hypnotismJ

Lovers who are mature enough in accepting the reality in marriage will successfully get married or successfully get divorced before getting married. Problem is with the immature lovers who struggle to understand or accept the reality once they are out of their own hypnotism. Either the immature lover fools himself by giving up his love with name of Sacrifice or he tries to blame others by fighting with them without understanding the reality in marriage.

 I assume that when there is love there is no chance to cheat. Hence, if a person got cheated it might be due to his misunderstanding of their bond as love while the other has taken that as like. If a person cheats his love then it might be due to the circumstances and to save him from those consequences. If a person cheats the other in order to save herself/himself then I can see only her/his lust for time pass, luxuries and even sex in her/his love which may not be considered as love. Most of the times people use the word ego hurt to get separated which I consider it as saving himself/herself with that word.

I assume Love marriage as conditional bond where the conditions are known to each other whereas arranged marriage as unconditional bond where there is a lot of thrill in exploring the conditions which will be rewritten with different experience they come across.

I hope the story of GG start with exploring the unconditional bond called marriage by understanding each other with the experiences they come across during fighting against 1986 flood.

Story:

Gundello Godari is an adventurous subject that runs on the background of 1986 Deviseema floods. GG has wonderful love story that runs on Lakshmi & Sandeep, sensible love story that runs on Aadhi & Taapsi and a newly married couple story on Adhi & Lakshmi. The story runs from the point of view of Aadhi & Lakshmi and it gets unfold during their adventurous journey of escaping the floods which affected deviseema for around 5 days.

The story starts with a marriage scene, where Lakshmi will be in marriage saree and people around her will be preparing her while she is in depressed mood. On the other side Aadhi who is getting ready in marriage dress will looks confused and little stressed. Apart from Aadhi & Lakshmi who are getting married the people in that marriage place which is happening in front of their huts are in full happy mood.

When marriage is going on, a car comes to that place from which Taapsi will get down. To all our surprise she will be in saree with taali around her neck. She comes near to Aadhi and wishes him by kissing him. She leaves that place with some dialogues firing at Aadhi raising many questions to us as well as to people in that place, who knows even Lakshmi who looks depressed might also got some questions (of course it is not that much easy to understand or guess what a women is thinking).

 When marriage is about to complete the floods slowly starts entering into that village, as the speed in the water flow increases people in that place start running by making big noise. When that area looks like fully disturbed, these two people will be still sitting in their own places which show that they are only physically present but not mentally. When that area looks like emptied leaving only the huts and these two people, the flow of that water increases and very big log breaks into that kalyana mandapam separating them. Falling into water they both realize and start getting away from that place. When both are running individually, Aadhi notices Lakshmi’s struggle and grabs her hand and pull her along with him.

Everyone in that area struggles to reach to safe place but fails miserable. Even Aadhi tries to manage to get onto the top of the tree; he ends up managing Lakshmi to get onto the tree. As the flow increase even that tree cut down making them to float with water. After certain struggle, they manage to get onto the top of a dry grass shed (Gaddivamu).

The complete area around that Gaddivamu will be full of water and there will be only these two people. In that small but hectic travel of escaping the floods they become little free and start asking questions on any hurts they got during that escape. As floods flow got down to normal and complete area is soundless, both starts knowing about each other, then the flash back of Aadhi starts.

Aadhi was a fisherman who enjoys his work and learns many things with his experience from Godavari. Here comes the song “Gundello Goadari pongi porluthundhe…” They were around 4 friends who used to enjoy their life peacefully. There comes Taapsi who is a college going girl and she use Aadhis boat and also his cycle to go to college. Taapsi has a crush on Aadhi and tries to have a talk with Aadhi who used to be very silent. Though he likes Taapsi, he tries to be very silent knowing his boundaries. Though Aadhi won’t talk directly to Taapsi she can understand what Aadhi is telling through his eyes, it's a story of direct and indirect eye to eye communication love story. Here comes Ravi babu who happens to have an eye on Taapsi and being from same community there is plan of getting marry wit her. It is village festival time, where Aadhi will participate in the boat raising. There will be eye communication between Aadhi & Taapsi before that race and once he win the race, they both will have some good time in that jaatara and Aadhi will accompany to her house. As she asks him to come into house, though initially he rejects finally he gets into due to her force. As all the people in the house are in Jaatara, a song will start “jillumande jillumandee vayasu”. On getting the info Ravi Babu reaches the house when these both are on the song. As the situation is getting worsen on Ravi Babu making nonsense there, Taapsi in order to save her family reputation, she point out that its Aadhi who came to spoil her.

Then suddenly a big sound of a sheep will come bringing the audience back to current situation. On hearing the sound Lakshmi and Aadhi tries to save that. After they save that sheep, while they are relaxing, he notices that her saree & jacket are torn and asks her to use his paint & shirt which will be convenient to swim as well.

When she is changing her dress and looking at him she goes back to flashback there starts the child suri and child chitra and some other children where Suri looks like beating somebody and warning them not to touch Chitra and the song(Nannu neetho) starts in which they become big Suri (Sandeep) and big chitra (Lakshmi). From childhood Chitra loves Suri a lot and she express that many times though Sandeep has not expressed. He is very talkative and satirical person who works as walls constructor (mestri). They both are very fun loving people who enjoy a lot in cock betting. We can see on his cycle along with wall constructing elements, there will be cocks as well. After announcement on cock betting for coming festival, there starts the “aikkadundhe aikkadundhe na kodi “ song . Once the song completes there will be cock betting in which there will be little quarrel and tension as well. At the end they will win good amount but crushing their happiness, that area police will catch and make them sit in the station. Once they are out of that station there will be scene where Lakshmi marriage will be going with some other person in which Suri will be sitting ideally. As she is looking for him, when she find him starts scolding and questioning. At the end of questioning, they made a  conclusion that they will be leaving that place on that night.

 With that word night and increase in the sound of the night they will come back to current as it is getting dark and they need to identify some safe place to escape that night. With a lot of fear and great light support from Moon, they keep spending the never ending night. As the day light starting, the water sound seems to increase signaling them one more disaster. When they are getting prepared, suddenly that Gaddivamu gets split off dropping them into water. By the time they fall and try to adjust, the flow increases so drastically they got flooded like hell and will get separated. The flow is so huge and level of river has increased so high that Aadhi touches the big pole and tries to hold it tightly and reach to the top. On reaching to the top he understands that he is on the pole of railway track that goes above Godavari River. Feeling the critical stage he is in and checking for Lakshmi he shouts the name Chitra with a loud fearing tone. From then the flashback of Chitra starts.

In an ugly wet dress and very tired face Chitra walks out of a building, she walks in utter shocking mood and goes to nearby bench. To the surprise of the people RaviBabu will be back and start teasing Chitra. Aadhi and his gang who are waiting for proper time to take revenge on Ravi Babu, save Chitra by hitting Ravi Babu. Looking at the situation of Chitra they take her to their place and tell her to take rest.  In the morning, police picks them to the station along with Chitra. Police officer who happens to be little sadistic, start misbehaving with Chitra. One of his friends says to police that she is already engaged with Aadhi and is about get to get married soon. When police cross checked, she just nods the head signaling satisfactory answer. On looking at Chitra who is sitting idle and lost, many tries to check what was happened but no response. One fine day, when Chitra tries to commit suicide, Aadhi who happens to be in the same area start running and save her successfully.

After saving her, he asks her strongly for the reason to commit suicide and comes to know what was happened. On that day when Suri & Chitra has decided to run away from the village, suri got hurt severely during the fight. When they are coming near to Aadhi village, it will be critical and by the time he is reached to hospital he died. Then come back to current where only the resound of the chitra name which he is shouting and sound of water crashing the pole on which Aadhi is standing. He notices Lakshmi who is under semi coma floating towards that place. He jumps into water and try to pull her towards the pole. Form there both will go to the top of railway track and hugh each other and ask for any pain updates keep waiting for some rescue team.

Note: this is my understanding of the point in Gundello Godari movie which I would like to write before I watch this movie in theater tomorrow.
